Bonds gets 30 day home sentence - maybe
After years of investigation, time in front of a grand jury and then a trial, Barry Bonds received a sentence of 30 days of home confinement. The sentence of home confinement will wait while Bonds appeals his obstruction of justice conviction. In addition to the 30 day sentence, Bonds was also fined $4,000. and must perform 250 hours of community service. Matthew Parrella, an Assistant U.S. attorney labeled the sentence "a slap on the wrist" and further stated that the fine was "laughable" for an athlete that made over $192 million during his career.
Brewers posting system bid
The Milwaukee Brewers' bid of $2.5 million for the right to negotiate with Japanese outfielder Norichika Aoki was accepted by Aoki's team, the Yakult Swallows. The Brewers now have 30 days to reach an agreement with Aoki.
