With CBA in place, NFL has new TV contracts

The fighting this past spring and summer for a new CBA in the NFL is over; and now the moment the owners and players have been waiting for: the announcement on TV deals for 2013 and beyond. More on this later

South Carolina to reduce football scholarships by six

The University of South Carolina agrees with the NCAA that major violations took place in its athletic department and will eliminate six football scholarships as part of its self-imposed discipline. The NCAA found that athletes at the Columbia, South Carolina  school received improper benefits from a local hotel that allowed athletes to stay at the hotel at a significantly reduced rate. The University is not contesting the findings of the  NCAA. The school will eliminate a total of six football scholarships over a three year period in hopes that the NCAA will find this and other self-imposed penalties to be sufficient punishment.

No charges will be filed against Xavier and Cincinnati brawlers

A Hamilton County, Ohio prosecutor said that the apologies between the the University of Cincinnati and Xavier basketball teams should be sufficient to avoid having the involvement of the criminal justice system in the matter. The two schools have each suspended four players, with the shortest suspension being one game and the longest being six games.
