Big East ready to add Boise State and four other schools to the conference

The Big East will announce plans to add Boise State and San Diego State to the conference in 2013 for football only, and Houston, Central Florida and SMU for all sports also beginning in 2013. The addition of the five teams will allow the conference to get back to twelve teams for football. Syracuse and Pitt plan to leave the conference for the ACC, but are not challenging the conference by-laws which have a 27 month waiting period. West Virginia is also leaving, but is currently involved in litigation with the conference, challenging the Big East's 27 month waiting period.
