NCAA denies Arizona State's appeal of baseball post-season ban
The NCAA Infractions Appeals Committee has denied Arizona State University's appeal of a post-season ban for its baseball team in 2012. Arizona State with a proud tradition of baseball excellence, has won five national titles and been in the College World Series 22 times. 2012 will mark the first time ASU will miss out on the post-season since 1999. The school will also vacate 44 wins from the 2007 season and have scholarship reductions. The NCAA found the post-season ban to be fair in light of the fact the baseball program is a repeat offender.
Stern puts full court press on players
NBA Commissioner David Stern in an effort to convince locked out NBA players to accept the NBA owners' current proposal, is touting the viability of the offer on the table. Stern appeared on ESPN on Monday and said:
We think that there’s a great offer on the table and what we told the players is it’s getting late, the only rational thing to do is for us to make that deal because given what’s going on in our business and our industry, it’ll get worse from there.
Stern went on to say that if the offer is not accepted by Wednesday, the next proposal will be far worse for the players. Don't look for the players to accept the current proposal or this type of posturing from Stern.
