Now it is official - Auburn really does have its National Championship
Over the course of the past year many college football fans, (particularly those in Tuscaloosa) were expecting the NCAA to find wrong doing in connection with Auburn's football championship. The NCAA has announced that after a thirteen month investigation that they could find no major violations in connection with Auburn and the recruitment of Cam Newton. Now the celebration can really begin in Auburn.

Epstein has a deal to run the Cubs
Theo Epstein, who happens to have a Juris Doctor degree, has relinquished his general manager job with the Boston Red Sox and agreed to a 5-year deal to take over as GM of the Chicago Cubs. Epstein received his law degree at the University of San Diego.
Federal mediator George Cohen to get involved with NBA labor talks
It was announced on Wednesday that George Cohen, the director of Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, will oversee negotiations between the NBA and its players.

NBA players' attorney Jeffrey Kessler revealed on Monday that the numbers are getting closer for the division of revenue between the teams and the players. However, the biggest issue is the structure of the salary cap. Kessler stated that, "the hard salary cap is what’s going to doom the season right now". The owners contend that the loopholes need to be removed from the salary cap to bring back competitive balance to the league. The owners feel that salary cap exceptions, such as the "Larry Bird exception" (which allows teams to go over the cap limits to re-sign their own free agents), need to be eliminated. The players believe the elimination of the "Bird exception" would limit the number of guaranteed contracts in the NBA.
