"The Dotted Line"
October 7, 2011
On Tuesday, October 11, ESPN will premiere its documentary on sports agents, the documentary is aptly named The Dotted Line. The documentary will feature baseball agent Peter Greenberg and football agent Eugene Lee.
Greenberg has an extensive client base of players mainly from Venezuela, with Johnan Santana being one of his marquee clients. Greenberg's firm was founded in July of 1997, giving him fourteen years to build up his business and clientele.
Lee, the featured football agent, is portrayed as an up and coming agent in the football industry. However, according to NFLPA records Lee received his NFLPA certification in November of 1997. So it is interesting to note that Lee and Greenberg have been in the business for almost the same length of time. Yet, Lee is portrayed as the new agent building his business. It would have been nice to see a relatively newer agent, maybe one with three or four years in the industry, instead of portraying a 14 year veteran has a young agent.
