Beebe out as Big 12 Commissioner
It was little over a year ago that Dan Beebe was hailed as a savior for the Big 12 when he kept the conference together after the defection of Colorado and Nebraska to other conferences. Now, Dan Beebe is out as Big 12 Commissioner. The continuing turmoil in the conference claimed Beebe when the challenges of the now beleaguered conference became too much for him to handle. Beebe's critics claimed he became greatly influenced by the power of the University of Texas and the controversial Longhorn Network.
MLB won't allow Manny Ramirez to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic
Baseball's Winter League Agreement gives it the power to stop Manny Ramirez from playing baseball in the Dominican Republic this off-season. Ramirez had planned on beginning to train with the Cibao Eagles in the Dominican winter league this week. Ramirez retired from baseball this past April when he failed a drug test. Because Ramirez neither contested the positive test nor served a suspension, he will not be allowed to play under the current Winter League agreement.
