Goodell hears Pryor appeal; NBA union meeting; NBA refs are ready for season

Pryor appeal hearing takes place - Goodell hears appeal of his own decision

Terrelle Pryor's appeal of his five game suspension took place on Thursday in New York. Initially Pryor indicated he would not appeal his five game suspension. But after prodding by the NFLPA, Pryor agreed to go forward with the appeal. The issue is if the commissioner has the power to suspend someone who has yet to enter the league or come under the jurisdiction of the CBA? The fact that Goodell will hear an appeal of his own decision is also problematic.

Las Vegas NBAPA meeting

NBAPA president Derek Fisher stated, "there is not the fracture and the separation amongst our group that in some ways has been reported", after a meeting with 40 NBA players that took place in Las Vegas. Fisher and executive director Billy Hunter expressed the desire to make long term decisions for the greater good. For good measure DeMaurice Smith of the NFLPA also spoke to the players at the meeting.

NBA referees will be ready for action, even if players are not

The NBA and its referees came to together on a five year agreement just in time for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, as long as there is no CBA in place, it is likely the referees will remain on vacation.
