Braylon Edwards claims restaurant damaged his chance for bigger contracts guarantees

Braylon Edwards of the San Francisco 49ers has filed a civil suit claiming a Michigan restaurant and three employees damaged his chance to sign a contract with an NFL club that guaranteed him $15 million. Edwards ended up signing a contract with  the 49ers that only guaranteed him $1 million. Edwards' suit stems from a fight in the Michigan restaurant during a class reunion Edwards was attending. Two members of Edwards' party were alleged to have been in an altercation with employees of the restaurant. Edwards claims employees of the restaurant went to the press and the police after the altercation, and in turn damaged his reputation. Edwards goes on to say in his suit that once the story broke, an unidentified NFL team withdrew their contract offer.

Will a player mutiny doom Billy Hunter?

NBAPA executive director Billy Hunter could be facing an agent and player led rebellion in the near term according to Yahoo! Sports. With no new offer coming from NBA owners, Hunter must go back to the players and relay to them the news that games will in all likelihood be canceled. Hunter decided that the strategy of decertifying the union was not a tactic he wanted to use. However, it seems that may have given the union their best shot at gaining leverage in the CBA battle. Now the union may go ahead and decertify, but without Billy Hunter as executive director.
