Johnson's holdout nets extension from Titans
Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans has ended his hold out and will be signing a contract extension with the Titans. It has been reported that Johnson will receive $30 million in guaranteed money out of a total of $56 million over six years. Last year Johnson and the Titans renegotiated his contract after Johnson sat out the entire off-season, however that agreement did little to reflect Johnson's true market value. For details on the first contract renegotiation take a look at this link.

Would Johnson still have been able to get this extension if he had reported to camp and then negotiated an extension? Probably not. There are also times when a hold out fails to benefit a player. Back in October of 2009 SLT took a look at one of the more famous hold outs. Al Harris and Todd Bell both of the Chicago Bears sat out the entire 1985 season and ultimately ended up missing out on a Super Bowl season. For a look at this hold out click on the following links.
