US Open underway with a sponsor that the USTA recently sued

The US Open is in full swing in New York. One of the tournament's official sponsors is Olympus. Less than one year ago the United States Tennis Association (USTA) sued Olympus for breach of contract, when Olympus attempted to get out of the remaining years of its sponsorship agreement with the USTA. In February, Olympus and the USTA settled the lawsuit, with Olympus agreeing to remain a sponsor.

Prosecutors drop remaining charges against Bonds

Only days after Judge Susan Illston upheld Barry Bonds' obstruction of justice count, prosecutors informed Judge Illston that the remaining three charges of making false statements would be dismissed. Bonds will have a sentencing hearing in December  on the obstruction of justice conviction.

NBA and NBAPA talks continue

With a sense of urgency building, NBA owners and players have agreed to continue to meet. Training camps are scheduled to open on October 1, with the first pre-season games beginning on October 9.
