WADA in Montreal with NFL, NFLPA; MLB waiver claims

WADA, NFL and NFLPA meet in Montreal

Officials from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) met with NFL and NFLPA officials in Montreal in an effort to put together a program for HGH testing that will be acceptable for the NFL and NFLPA. WADA handles all Olympic drug testing, but as of now does not conduct testing in any American professional sports. Sources close to the meeting maintained that the NFLPA was not fully satisfied with the procedures used by WADA and the reliability of the testing.

Waiver claims after the trade deadline in MLB

Closer Heath Bell of the San Diego Padres has been claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants, but that does not mean Bell will become a member of the Giants. The Padres now have 48 hours to trade Bell, pull him back from waivers, or allow him to be claimed.

For details on how waiver claims work after July 31, see the following link from 2010
