Hometown discount worth it for Weaver
Clients of Scott Boras tend to play out their contracts and hit the free agent market with an eye toward using their leverage for a record breaking deal. Jared Weaver of the Los Angeles Angels decided that he was going to take a different path. For Weaver, the hometown discount to remain with the Angels was exactly what the Southern California native wanted.
It is clear Scott Boras wanted Weaver to enter the free agent market, however Weaver did not buy into that approach. It is said that the agent works for the player and ultimately the player makes the final decision. A good agent will advise the player on all possible scenarios, covering the good and the bad of each scenario. For Weaver giving up what would have been a much bigger contract, to remain with the Angels, was certainly in his best interest.

Compliance to be emphasized at UConn
Paul Pendergast, the interim athletic director at the University of Connecticut knows that schools are now entering an era when compliance with NCAA regulations must be given greater attention. Pendergast was selected on Sunday to take over at UConn after former AD Jeff Hathaway's tenure ended at UConn . It was just last Friday that Jeff Hathaway who had been the athletic director at UConn agreed to a buyout of his contract. Details of Hathaway's buyout can found in this link.
