The big story today in the world of Sports Law comes out of Miami, Florida. A University of Miami booster, who is now in prison, has decided to tell his story to Yahoo! Sports. Nevin Shapiro who could be called a "friend of the program" tells a story of supplying impermissible benefits to athletes at Miami from 2002 to 2010. Shapiro is currently serving time for his role in a Ponzi scheme.
Additionally, Shapiro was involved as an investor with a sports agency that used cash and other illegal benefits as a recruiting tool in signing players.
