Concussion lawsuit, No NFLPA vote yet

More retired player sue NFL - this time for concussions

Seventy-Five former NFL players have sued the NFL claiming that the league knew about the dangers of concussions and concealed it from the players.  An NFL spokesman said the league has not yet seen the complaint, but will contest any claims of this kind.

It it clear that a player knows of the dangers and risks associated with playing the sport, so it is hard to imagine this suit going very far. Going back to 1905 President Teddy Roosevelt, even threatened to abolish the game with an executive order when 18 players were killed during the 1905 season alone. The dangers associated with the game are not new,  a player has to be aware of the long term risks associated with the game before he even sets foot on the field. Playing football maybe in many ways similar to cigarette smoking, you do it at your own risk.

Even TR knew the dangers involved in the game back in 1905

NFL players have lengthy meeting, but no player vote on CBA yet

NFL players are taking their time to make sure all issues are resolved in a manner they can live with for the next ten years. What's a few more days over the course of many years. Thus, the attitude of the players is let's get this right before we  agree to the thing. Meanwhile, in Atlanta the owners labor committee met with NFL general counsel Jeff Pash. Pash is suggesting that the deal can close today (Thursday).
