Compliance: "unacceptable"; 10 year CBA close

July 18, 2011

Documents show compliance was not Tressel's strong suit

Well before former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel ran into trouble covering-up the selling of memorabilia by his players, he had been warned about doing a poor job of self reporting compliance violations. Documents released last Friday reveal that former Ohio State athletic director Andy Geiger rated Tressel "unacceptable" when it came to taking care of the compliance portion of his job. In Tressel's evaluation from 2005-06 he was graded excellent in  10 of 12 areas, however, when it came to compliance Tressel's performance was graded "unacceptable".

NFL-NFLPA talks continue on Monday

It has been widely reported throughout the weekend that only a few issues remain to be resolved before players and owners are able to wrap-up a new CBA. Talk has centered around a ten year agreement, with the Brady antitrust litigation and the television rights fee case being the only issues still needing to be resolved.

One issue that appears to be taken care of is a new rookie wage scale.
