Unprecedented times in the Sports Law world
 
The NFL lockout, a lockout in the NBA on the horizon and Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig taking on Frank McCourt in bankruptcy court with the future of the Los Angeles Dodgers at stake. It is hard to think of another period in sports law history when there were as many major issues. And, today we have the iconic Marvin Miller weighing in on the NFL lockout.

Legendary baseball union leader Marvin Miller, now 94 years old, praised DeMaurice Smith and his leadership of the NFLPA. Miller was attending a screening of a documentary on Curt Flood, when he offered his opinion on the NFL lockout as well -

This is entirely caused by a $9 billion a year industry, their demands, that despite their affluence the players should give up a billion dollars off the salary cap, that the players with the worst and most serious injury rates should have their season extended with two additional games

CBA deadline day in the NBA
 
There will be no deal in the immediate future between players and owners in the NBA. When can we expect the lockout to begin?
