McCourt hangs on for now; Judicial coincidence; One less worry at UNC

Judge Gross give McCourt and Dodgers a reprieve
Judge Kevin Gross allowed the request of Frank McCourt to borrow $60 million to meet the teams' next payroll. Despite the objections of Major League Baseball, McCourt will continue to hold on to his ownership of the Dodgers, at least in the short term. Judge Gross did ask for a copy of the MLB constitution, noting that "it has an impact here". Baseball's constitution allows the Commissioner to take control of a team that files for bankruptcy, but it must first file a motion seeking termination of the franchise.

Coincidence?

Coincidence?
Did Frank McCourt have added confidence in court when he realized the name of the bankruptcy judge - Kevin Gross. lt was pitcher Kevin Gross who played for the Dodgers between 1991 and 1994 and pitched a no-hitter in 1992.
It was just last year in a Minnesota court that Judge Gary Larson ruled on the StarCaps case between the NFL and two players on the Vikings. And of course a vital cog in the Minnesota Vikings legendary "Purple People Eaters" defense was Gary Larsen.

UNC has one less thing to worry about
