More legal news from UNC football
Hardly a week goes by that the North Carolina football program is not mentioned for compliance or legal issues. If standings were kept over the last year, surely UNC would be up there with Ohio State, USC, the University of Connecticut, and Tennessee just to name a few.
This week the University of North Carolina is releasing parking ticket records and phone records from its football program that were sought by media companies including Raleigh, North Carolina newspaper "The News and Observer". The University's decision to release the records just happened to coincide with a state Court of Appeals ruling against UNC's request to delay the release of these documents.

Fringe NFL players get by without OTA per diem money
Many NFL players who sign futures contracts do not have large bank accounts. Futures contracts only give a player a chance to go through OTAs (organized team activities) and training camp. During OTAs players receive per diem money which allows them to get through each week with some income. Now with the lockout, first year players who may not have spent much time on even a practice squad the previous season are needing to find ways to get by without per diem money from the team.

They get money from the off-season workout program - max 56 days. OTAs are a sub-set of the off-season program - max 14 days. OTAs have (had) different rules about allowed activity.
