Kiffin and Pearl do some explaining to the NCAA
Former Tennessee head coaches Lane Kiffin and Bruce Pearl spent a combined nine hours explaining their tenures in Knoxville to the NCAA infractions committee. The testimony of the two former head coaches will go a long way in determining the severity of the penalties handed down by the NCAA. It will be at least another two or three months before the NCAA infractions committee completes its investigation of Tennessee.

Current West Virginia University athletic director Oliver Luck was a highly successful quarterback at West Virginia from 1978-81. Luck then went on to play in the NFL for several years. After concluding his NFL career, Luck received his law degree from the University of Texas. From there Luck continued his success as an attorney in Germany. Luck then worked with the NFL, and even headed up NFL Europe during 1996. Additionally, Luck was the CEO of the Houston Sports Authority. Oh, and by the way, Oliver Luck also happens to have a son who is a quarterback at Stanford.

It goes without saying that Luck is a talented and successful lawyer. However, the idea to bring in Dana Holgorsen to take over the position of offensive coordinator at West Virginia for the upcoming 2011 season, and then to take over for head coach Bill Stewart in 2012, will be forever known as a fiasco for Luck. Yes, even the best of them can make big mistakes.
The disaster at West Virginia came to a halt on Friday when head coach Bill Stewart resigned, and Dana Holgorsen took over control of the Mountaineer program much sooner than expected. For more details of what transpired take a look at the following links.
From December of 2010 when Holgorsen was first brought in.
