Ohio State compliance office was warned in November of a need to be more vigilant
The Ohio State University compliance office was once considered the gold standard in college athletics. Now a report is surfacing that auditors warned the compliance department in November of 2010 of a need to pay better attention to monitoring the cars athletes were driving.
With approximately 1,100 athletes to keep tabs on at Ohio State, the compliance office will now be expanding its staff from six full time positions to eight full-time. Expect added positions at many universities throughout the nation. If nothing else the recent trend of compliance issues in college sports will at least help to create jobs for a struggling economy.

Did the SEC really change its rules on oversigning?
The SEC passed new legislation on Friday in an attempt to cut down on the oversigning of recruits. So it may appear that SEC school presidents can pat themselves on the back and say that they are doing the right thing on the surface. But enough loop holes still exist that SEC football coaches can continue in much the same manner that previously existed. This linked article from ESPN calls the SEC's new policy more of a soft cap on oversigning, as compared to Big Ten which has a hard cap.
