Hope comes from keeping the lawyers out? Justice Department and BCS to meet

June 3, 2011

NFL and players complete three days of meetings

Today the NFL and the NFLPA will be in St. Louis before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. The hearing that will take place will determine the legality of the ongoing lockout. However, over the past three days several NFL  owners got together with DeMaurice Smith of the NFLPA  and selected NFL players. Many sources are expressing optimism over the last three days of negotiations.

Check out Pro Football Talk's take on these meetings. It appears that  sports lawyers are lacking popularity in the eyes of some.

The BCS and the Justice Department

The Justice Department's antitrust division will get together with the BCS at a date to be determined later. Executive Director Bill Hancock of the BCS had this to say about the meeting, ''We view it as an opportunity to make it clear that the BCS was crafted very carefully with antitrust laws in mind,'' In the meantime the endless debate about the BCS and a possible playoff sytem will continue on.
