Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals rules that NFL may continue lockout; Jim Crane agrees to buy Astros
May 17, 2011
Until June or later, lockout will continue
In a 2-1 decision, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the NFL's lockout can continue. U.S. District Court Judge Susan Nelson's order to lift the lockout is blocked.
The NFL has proven that it, according to the majority, "... likely will suffer some degree of irreparable harm without a stay."
Is the NFL the only sports league that has gone to court in order not to play its sport?

Houston businessman Jim Crane has reached an agreement with current Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane to purchase the team. The sale would still have to receive approval from Major League Baseball.
