Los Angeles Dodger owner Frank McCourt was in New York yesterday to meet with Bud Selig and others in the MLB offices. Depending on who you want to believe, it sounds like the meeting did not go well. McCourt is now talking about suing MLB. McCourt is claiming MLB is standing in the way of the Dodgers extending their deal with Fox for television and media rights.
Outstanding college players who lack pro potential
Yahoo Sports has a nice piece on outstanding college football players who go undrafted come draft time. In this day and age of the agent business, it can be painful from a financial standpoint for an agent to make a mistake on this type of player. Yet this happens frequently, as many agents will get overly excited by a player's college accomplishments, but may not fully evaluate the player based on his pro potential. More often than not, when things don't pan out for the player, guess who takes the blame? - the agent, of course.
Former Ball State coach loses NCAA appeal
Though hardly having the magnitude of the current situation with Jim Tressel at Ohio State, a former Ball State women's tennis coach had her appeal regarding several rules violations denied by the NCAA. Former Ball State coach Kathy Bull was fired in 2009 because of what the school and NCAA considered major infractions. Bull also has a wrongful termination suit pending against Ball State.
