MLB appoints trustee to run Dodgers

It is not a happy day for Frank McCourt, as MLB Commissioner Bud Selig announced that he will appoint a trustee to oversee all aspects of the operations of the Los Angeles Dodgers. McCourt has been of going through a bitter divorce battle, and as of late has been receiving much criticism in Los Angeles over the beating of a San Francisco Giants fan at the Dodgers' home opener.

Is an unnamed law firm working to give a voice to over 70 NFL players?

Rumor has it that at least 70 NFL players have hired a law firm to file an action to give mid-level players a voice in the ongoing mediation and litigation.

The Sports Business Journal reported that at least 70 players are asking for room at the negotiating table so that their voices are will be heard in the ongoing labor battle. If there is truth to this rumor NFL owners will be pleased that is happening, and will most certainly delay any compromises to see if this rumored fracture actually plays out.

For you NFLPA history buffs, something similar to this happened in 1993 after a tentative settlement between players and owners was reached. In 1993 a Los Angeles law firm representing a handful of NFL stars, such as Eric Allen, filed a suit to invalidate the new CBA. There was much talk on the part of the law firm representing the players, but after some posturing and puffing the lawsuit went nowhere.

Additionally, it was also announced on Wednesday that there will be no further mediation until May 16.
