NFL owners and players at odds over who should facilitate mediation; Bonds case goes to the jury; class action filed against NFL over lockout by potential rookie; Titans and USC settle lawsuit

Players would gladly accept Judge Nelson as mediator

U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson offered her good offices to both the NFL and the players for mediation to be overseen by her in St. Paul, MN.  The players accepted, but the owners want to go back to federal mediator George Cohen in Washington, D.C.  The judge said that court-supervised talks in St. Paul represented a "neutral table".

Jury deliberations begin today in Bonds case

The closing arguments from both the prosecution and defense were presented with a vengeance.

It's interesting that prosecutors theorized that Bonds lied because he didn't want his dad to know about steroid use.

Of course, his dad would be the late Bobby Bonds. Bobby Bonds was a star from the late 1960's and 70's. Bobby Bonds died in 2003. It is interesting that the prosecution would use this argument, because it could almost bring sympathy for Bonds. It may seem that the defense would have been better off if they had tried this theory.

Potential rookie free agent files class action against the NFL

Former Middle Tennessee State University wide receiver Garrett Andrews has sued the NFL in part because he feels the lockout could jeopardize his chance to get into a NFL training camp.

Remember, if the lockout continues until NFL draft time, that there will be a draft. However, teams will be unable to sign the 300 to 400 undrafted college players that they usually sign in the hours right after the draft. So many potential players who would be in camp could have a pretty miserable experience at draft time when their name isn't called during the seven round draft.
