Former Laker great Elgin Baylor loses lawsuit
Elgin Baylor, the former Los Angeles Lakers star, came up short in his age discrimination lawsuit against the Los Angeles Clippers. Baylor had been the long-time general manager of the Clippers when he was forced out of his position with the team before the 2008-09 season. Baylor has spent 22 years in the front office with the Clippers. The jury returned a 12-0 verdict against Baylor. The jury felt Baylor did not lose his job because of his age, rather that he lost his job because of the poor performance of the Clippers.
NFL completes payments for player benefits for 2010 season
The NFL lockout is currently ongoing, but NFL owners had to take care of business from the 2010 season. On Thursday the NFL completed benefit payments for the 2010 season. The final payment was $177 million.
Missouri leverage gets Purdue basketball coach a new deal

Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter appeared to be out the door and on his way to Missouri. But Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke stepped in and provided Painter with a new contract for eight years at close to $2.3 million per year. This, despite the fact that it was just last year that Painter received a contract extension through 2016-2017 at $1.3 million per season.
