Client poaching by Golden Boy Promotions; Bonds trial; Fiesta Bowl CEO fired

Boxing arbitration ruling

A former California judge, ruling in arbitration, has found that Golden Boy Promotions poached a Top Rank client. Boxer Nonito Donaire had signed a marketing agreement with Golden Boy, after Donaire had declared himself a free agent. However, Top Rank had signed Donaire to a three year contract with an option in 2008.  Top Rank contended that the contract had not expired. Donaire had been on medical suspension for 300 days during the first year of his contract, thus tolling the contract with the suspension, and adding time to the contract.
