NFL to enforce player conduct policy during lockout

The NFL will continue to enforce its policy regarding off-field behavior even during the lockout.

Brian McCarthy of the NFL stated, "Any misconduct that is detrimental to the integrity of, and public confidence in, the NFL will certainly be addressed when play resumes".

One interesting note from the expiration of the CBA and the lockout is that players will not be subject to random drug testing for PEDs or drugs of abuse.

NFL wants television revenue documents kept confidential

According to Brian Rolapp, chief operating officer for NFL Media, “Unsealing these documents would reveal to entities with whom we have, may have, or seek to have commercial relationships our internal thought processes relating to television programming and digital rights,” Brian Rolapp, chief operating officer for NFL Media, wrote in his declaration of support filed with the league’s request.

Information about the $4 billion in tv revenues is contained in 12,000 pages of materials, and the players' union wants the details that may be found therein for evidence.

Agents need to help NFL players with budgeting

Helping NFL players understand budgeting has been an often overlooked part of an agents job.

Certainly there  are players who can handle budgeting on their own, but there will always be some players who may not have the sophistication coming out of college to stick to a budget or even understand the need for one.

With the lockout upon us, the lack of cash flow may be a problem down the road for some players who were counting on off-season bonuses or even workout bonuses. The real problems won't start until September if the lockout is still on; generally, NFL players get paid their base salary during the 17 weeks of the regular season.

The NFLPA and probably a majority of agents for the last few years have prepared players for the lockout in terms of having money set aside for this event.
