NFLPA and NFL agree to mediation; NCAA decides Devon Ramsey is eligible; NHL disciplinary measures need no further discussion

Well, at least they're trying
 
The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to take their stalled CBA talks to a mediator. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service will get involved starting today. We do not expect much to come from this, except that the mediator will find out how far apart they are. The agreement to go in front of a mediator did bring many positive comments from such diverse people as NFLPA president Kevin Mawae, agent Drew Rosenhaus, and Colts owner Jim Irsay.


UNC football player Ramsey regains his eligibility
 
One of the University of North Carolina football players who lost his eligibility at UNC has been granted eligibility to return to the football team. With the help of  former Judge Robert Orr, Ramsay successfully argued his case, which seemed to hinge on a plagiarism issue as opposed to an agent issue.


NHL Commissioner Bettman wants to avoid debate with Lemieux


Discipline is not a proper subject for debate according to NHL commissioner.
