Hamilton has deal with Rangers; State agent regulation laws; NFL leaves the table

No arbitration for Rangers' Hamilton
 
The Texas Rangers and American League MVP, Josh Hamilton, reached an agreement on a two year deal for $24 million, avoiding an arbitration hearing next week. What's interesting here, is that the Rangers have not had an arbitration hearing with a player in eleven years.


Bad news for agents who like to recruit in Virgina
 
Virginia is one state considering adding sports agent laws to protect its universities from agent corruption, with New Jersey being another, according to an Associated Press article. For years agents have recruited more heavily in a state such as Virginia, where they were not required to register with the state, while nearby Maryland was usually avoided because of the high price to register there.



Is siege mentally setting in as NFL cancels talks with NFLPA?
 
Disputes involving "total revenue" and "all revenue" were among the main reasons the NFL canceled talks with the NFLPA for Thursday. The two sides may be settling in for a long fight, based on the latest news from the front. It's a shame that the NFL which loves to sell the TV rights to almost everything these days, won't at least put a TV camera in some of the negotiating sessions.
