UConn attempts to keep relationship with Burton
Give credit to UConn interim President Philip Austin and Board of Trustees Chairman Lawrence McHugh for trying to salvage the school's relationship with disgruntled booster and donor Robert Burton. With as much money at stake here, it is no surprise that the UConn big wigs came groveling to Burton.

Johnny Cueto and the Cincinnati Reds avoided arbitration when they agreed on a four year deal at $27 million. The signing of the pitcher to the long term deal provides cost certainty to the club for the next four years. Remember, the Reds recently signed star Joey Votto to a three year deal as well. That deal also allowed the team to avoid arbitration with Votto for the next three seasons.
Alberto Contador faces a possible one year ban from cycling and forfeiture of his Tour de France title
In this case of a positive clenbuterol test, the Spanish Cycling Federation is proposing a one, not the possible two year, ban. It is unclear why the lesser penalty is proposed; no mitigating circumstances having been cited. In any case, there are several routes by which the matter may reach the Court Of Arbitration For Sport, which could turn out to be a "double or nothing" situation- innocent and no penalties, or perhaps the full two years.
Under WADA's code, the burden of proof is on the athlete to show that he or she did not know how the banned substance ended up in their system in order to receive no sanctions for a positive test.
