Leach v. Texas Tech; Testimony allowed in Bonds' perjury trial

Appeals court throws Leach for a loss

Mike Leach vs. Texas Tech continues to be something like a knock down drag out fight that goes the distance. This won't be like the recently settled case between Jim Leavitt and University of  South Florida. We get the feeling that Leach and Texas Tech really hate each other.

An otherwise meritorious cause of action against a State is precluded by the doctrine of sovereign immunity.  The decision of three judges
was unanimous (by a court dominated by Texas Tech graduates) in favor of Texas Tech. Here's the link to Chief Justice Brian Quinn's Opinion.

SLT figures that Leach will get a favorable decision when he appeals to the Texas Supreme Court, which is not dominated by Texas Tech grads.

Was the court influenced by the "Masked Rider"?

At any rate, this'll teach Leach to sign a contract in a state which still enforces laws derived from England’s medieval times.

Judge allows former players to testify about obtaining PEDs in Bonds perjury trail

Judge Susan Illston will allow testimony from former players who had dealings with Barry Bonds' former trainer, Greg Anderson.  However, Judge Illston will not allow the prosecution to use as evidence calendars and coded drug tests that prosecutors say confirm Bonds' PED use.
