December 6, 2010
NFLPA issues its ruling on two agents
CARD, The NFLPA's Committee on Agent Regulation and Discipline has made public its rulings on the discipline to be handed out to two agents. First, Gary Wichard, whose name was a big part of the fiasco that was University of North Carolina football this fall, received a nine month suspension. Wichard's relationship with former UNC assistant coach John Blake led to Wichard's impermissible contact with then junior Marvin Austin. Austin was kicked off the team this fall, in part for taking a trip to California that was paid for by Wichard's agency.
The second agent, Teague Egan, currently an undergraduate at USC, had his NFLPA certification revoked for infractions at USC. If you haven't seen Egan's tour of his apartment at USC on the internet, we suggest you take a look at it.
Yankees and Jeter reach agreement

The ultimate New York Yankee, Derek Jeter, has come to an agreement with the club. The sticking point had been the fourth year of the deal with the Yankees initially offering just a three year contract while Jeter was looking for four years guaranteed. The compromise calls for an 8 million dollar player option for the fourth year in 2014. If the team does not want to exercise the option that year, they can buy out the deal for 3 million.
