Greinke's no-trade clause
Former Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke of the Kansas City Royals has an interesting no-trade clause in his contract. According to Foxsports.com Geinke can submit a list of 15 teams that he can block a trade to, and that his no-trade privileges expire after his season. Stories indicate that if the New York Yankees are unable to land Cliff Lee, they will look to obtain Greinke in a trade with the Royals. It has been thought that Greinke, who has had anxiety issues in the past, had wanted to stay out of media hot spots like New York.
Cliff Lee to set benchmark for all other free-agents
With Baseball's winter meetings approaching all eyes will be on Cliff Lee and the deal he reaches with the New York Yankees or Texas Rangers
Tulowitzki gets a big deal
Colorado Rockies star Troy Tulowitzki has agreed to an additional seven years on his current contract with the Rockies. The deal should keep Tulowitzki with the team to 2020. Tulo already had a six year contract in place until 2013, so this deal appears to cement his relationship with the Rockies until the end of the next decade.

Newton eligible to play in SEC Championship

The NCAA has determined that Auburn quarterback Cam Newton will be eligible to play in the SEC Championship game on Saturday. The NCAA did determine that a violation of NCAA rules did occur when Newton's father shopped his son to Mississippi State University, however Cam Newton was unaware of the actions of his father.
The NCAA stated -
From a student-athlete reinstatement perspective, Auburn University met its obligation under NCAA bylaw 14.11.1. Under this threshold, the student athlete has not participated while ineligible.
Now to put this into perspective, long time basketball sneaker promoter and middle man Sonny Vaccaro had this to say about the ruling -
The NCAA just gave cover to every middle man in the country, The kids never know. In all my years, I’ve never heard of a kid being involved in the negotiation. You think they ask? Of course not. Their mom asks. Their coach asks. Their cousin asks. This is crazy.
