MLB posting process; Disappointing seasons = lost jobs

The posting process: Twins win out

The Minnesota Twins placed the highest bid for the right to negotiate with Japanese shortstop Tsuyoshi Nishioka. The process is known as the posting process and gives the Twins 30 days to agree to terms with Nishioka. Just last week SLT looked at the plight of the Oakland A's and their attempt to sign Hisashi Iwakuma. The Twins are certainly hoping that they have better luck than the A's in reaching a deal.

Not even winning the Old Oaken Bucket can save Bill Lynch

As SLT predicted a few weeks back, Indiana University has fired head football coach Bill Lynch. Not even winning their last game against arch rival Purdue Saturday could save the job of Coach Lynch.

It is the time of year when losing head football coaches get fired, so along with Bill Lynch losing his job yesterday, The University of Miami has decided to part ways with head coach Randy Shannon
. Even though Randy Shannon did not have a losing record during his four years at the U, Shannon's teams did not live up to the high expectation that the University of Miami has.
