Baseball free agency

November 8, 2010

Baseball's free agency period is underway

As usual, the New York Yankees will be a dominant player this year. The Yankees have already been in touch with Darek Braunecker, the agent for southpaw Cliff Lee.

Will the Texas Rangers be able to get their man and keep Lee in Texas? Remember this was supposed to be the time when both the Yankees and Boston Red Sox made a play at superstar Joe Mauer, but the small market Twins were able to sign Mauer back in March and keep their star in the Twin Cities.

As the free agency period commences, there is one historical figure who dominates any discussion about free agency in Baseball or any other sport for that matter- the one and only Marvin Miller. Miller is now 93, and it was his work that paved the way for not only free agency, but the arbitration process. With this in mind, we direct your attention to the following link which pays tribute to Marvin Miller.  http://www.thanksmarvin.com
