Former Rice football player files antitrust claim against NCAA
Former Rice football player Joseph Agnew has filed an antitrust
suit against the NCAA claiming the one year renewable scholarship
suit against the NCAA claiming the one year renewable scholarship
unfairly penalizes athletes who get injured and lose their scholarships.
The NCAA banned scholarships of more than one academic year
in 1973. Scholarships are renewed annually, but schools can decide
to not renew them for about any reason.
