Caster Semenya will attempt return to track and field competition; Suit against Dwyane Wade dismissed; IUPUI must vacate victories

March 31, 2010

Semenya says she's waited long enough
and intends to compete despite no gender test results having been released.

Neither banned nor suspended as of now by the IAAF, Semenya protests that, "I have been subjected to unwarranted and invasive scrutiny of the most intimate and private details of my being."

Despite attempts by her legal advisers, they have had no response from the IAFF as to when she may be allowed to return to competition.

Semenya announced that, "My coach, agent and I will work closely together to identify and prepare for a limited number of athletics meetings over the course of the coming athletics season."

The vice chairman of the Diamond League circuit, Patrick Magyar, said, "I don't think any of the meeting directors will take any decision outside of the IAAF.  We don't have clearance. There has not been any discussion on it so far."

The athlete maintained, "I am of the firm view that there is no impediment to me competing in athletics competitions.  I will, however, continue to assist the IAAF with whatsoever they may require for their own processes and in this regard I have instructed my legal and medical team to work closely with, and continue negotiation with them for these purposes."

NCAA orders IUPUI to vacate wins

In addition to loss of scholarships and 3 years of probation, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis will vacate 18 wins in men's basketball 2003-04; 14 victories in women's basketball 2006-07; and 40 volleyball wins 2004-06.

Spokesman for IUPUI, Rich Schneider said, ``IUPUI is pleased that the NCAA enforcement staff and Committee on Infractions agreed with the results of its internal investigation and has accepted its corrective actions and self imposed sanctions.''
