Jim Tressel's new contract with Ohio State; Alejandro Valverde's suspension stands

March 17, 2010

Ohio State has extended Jim Tressel's contract for another 2 years.  Gratitude for his continued success is evident in the terms of his two-year contract extension. Of interest, of course, is Tressel's previous contract .  Note particularly the provisions regarding the coach's reward for the percentage of players graduating and of players with a GPA of 3.0 or above.

With former head coach John Cooper there were problems both on the academic and on the losing to Michigan fronts.  Tressel has alleviated both problems, especially on the Michigan front.

The new contract provides for a job as associate athletic director if and when Tressel steps down as coach.

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected Alejandro Valverde's appeal of his two-year suspension in Italy.
