Hurled hot dog hits hard: fan sues KC Royals; NCAA finds Michigan failed to comply with practice time rules; Derek Dooley's contract with Tennessee

February 24, 2010

Personal injury attorneys take note:  Kansas City Royals mascot's hot dog toss may cost team medical specials with all the trimmings

A fan who was struck by a hot dog thrown by the team's mascot, Sluggerrr, has filed suit.  In an attempt to be entertaining, the tube steak was one of several hurled into the stands, but the only one to hit a spectator in the left eye.

The complaint alleges that the mascot,"lost control of his throw, or was reckless with his throw, and threw the hotdog directly into plaintiff, who was sitting a few feet away.”

Sluggerrr was reportedly seen leaving the park in this car after the incident.

The NCAA has concluded that Michigan has failed to comply with practice time rules.  See SLT blog of 8/31/09 for more background.
