What seems like a run of the mill baseball trade actually has more to it than meets the eye. The Angels have traded Gary Matthews, Jr. to the Mets in exchange for reliever Brian Stokes. What makes this deal interesting is that the Angels will continue to pay the majority of Matthews' hefty salary. The Mets will pay just one million dollars a season to Matthews, while the Angels will continue to pay Matthews 21.5 million dollars over the next two seasons. Teams never look very good when they're paying salaries for players no longer helping the club.
