Urban Meyer takes LOA- no questions now about Charlie Strong remaining with Louisville; The biggest PED story of the year; Chan Ho Park sues over loan to Chad Kreuter
December 28, 2009
Fast moving events gave rise to ethical questions which quickly became moot.
Earlier we were asking these questions relative to a developing situation: Is there a possibility Louisville's newly hired coach, Charlie Strong, will bolt the Cardinals and head back to Florida? Stranger things have happened, particularly since Louisville has yet to formalize a contract with Strong. The situation gave rise to a question that remains as hypothetical: What are the ethics of leaving a program that just hired you after an agreement has been reached, but has not yet been reduced to writing?
When University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer decided to take a leave of absence instead of resigning, the ethical issue above became moot.

It is almost impossible to fully cover all the drug suspensions this year in sports. They occurred in football, cycling, baseball, tennis, and golf; to name but a few. Just dealing with performance enhancing drugs would take us days to cover. In fact AP said the sports story of the year was the use of performance enhancing drugs. By this time I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing about it. But if we had to pick one story that received the most attention this year it would be the Los Angeles Dodgers' Manny Ramirez' 50 game suspension. The LA Times laid it out:
