Kansas City Chiefs' Larry Johnson; No Northwestern fans eat at Outback Steakhouses
October 30, 2009
Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson plans to appeal his one game suspension that resulted from a gay slur that Johnson made and his questioning coach Todd Haley's qualifications. Johnson' agent plans to use the appeal process under the NFL-NFLPA CBA.

Bowls, are they all about the money? Yes. Who benefits?: the city that stages the game- it's a chance to fill up hotels and give restaurants more business and gain exposure on television. The conference, because it brings in more revenue to schools and the conference. For the players it's supposedly a reward for a good season, but there is also the added risks of injury with an extra game. The coaches are happy for the additional practices going into the following season (many coaches have a financial incentive in their contracts if they get to a bowl). The title sponsor also benefits because of the media attention. In this case it's Chick-fil-A getting the exposure. Sometimes this can backfire; just ask any fan of Northwestern University after being snubbed by the Outback Bowl on two different occasions, and for a Big Ten team with a worse record, at that. You won't find a loyal Northwestern supporter lining up to eat at an Outback Steakhouse.
