Is the BCS violating antitrust law?

In a hearing conducted by the antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Orrin Hatch stated his belief that the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) operates in contravention of Section 1 and possibly Section 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act.  He says that the distribution of  BCS revenues is inequitable and that the control exercised over who gets to compete favors the big conferences.
