Two Traditional Titans' Troubles Taken To Court
July 8, 2009
Billy Gillispie, former University of Kentucky basketball coach, filed suit 5/27/09 in federal court in Texas alleging breach of contract and fraud on the part of the University of Kentucky Athletics Assoc. The defendants moved that the case either be moved to Kentucky or dismissed. They maintain that the court has no jurisdiction due to the very minimal contact that the University of Kentucky has with Texas. See link for the particulars.
For you civil procedure buffs: What do you expect the outcome of the motion to dismiss will be?

Sanctions imposed by the NCAA upon former Indiana University basketball coach Kelvin Sampson were upheld in a recent decision. Essentially barred from coaching in the NCAA until 11/2013, Sampson's alleged impermissible phone calls to prospects cost not only him, but IU. Due to a "failure to monitor" their coaching staff, the school's program is on a 3 year probation and recruiting and scholarship restrictions are being enforced.
