2009 Sports Lawyers Association Conference

April 30, 2009

On May 14-16, 2009 the 35th annual Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) conference will take place in Chicago. Whether you are a veteran of the sports law field, a young attorney seeking more involvement, or you're just trying to take care of that dreaded CLE credit, this is always a good conference to attend. The conference offers presentations by some of the leading authorities in their fields, as well as tremendous networking opportunities.

Over the years such noted individuals as the legendary John Wooden, Curt Flood, Bill Bradley, Jerry Colangelo, and Richard Dysart of LA Law fame have been guest speakers. If you are looking for two and a half days of CLE credit and to brush up on your Sports Law knowledge, Chicago will be the place to be on May 14-16.

When the Sports Lawyers Association was founded around 1975 there was another organization that was also known as the SLA. The other SLA (Symbionese Liberation Army) had an even worse reputation than many sports agents. For those of you too young to remember, they were a bizarre radical group that enhanced their already considerable noteriety by kidnapping and indoctrinating heiress Patty Hearst.
